all the ordinary people

all the ordinary people,
groggy eyed and unsettled of the index finger, 
turning the steering wheel of their ordinary car,
closing the scritchy door behind the scritchy dog,
may not know

but here am I in my crumbly window seat 
with my drippy heart and sharp gas 
from eating too much of a favorite,
and I see

how the morning stormlight turns, 
two seconds of rainbow,
and a slow blessing of light
and water as silver mist
anoints us all
for a tender moment
